Improvements Forum Software

Dear YL's and OM's,

according to Alexander (hoster of this forum) he will upgrade the forum software to the new version ....

We kindly ask everybody to post features or functions you wish to have or should be improved ....

Done by 29.10.08 - 1.  Software Upgrade to Simple Machine from 1.1.5  to 1.1.6 -> 1.1.7

Done by 01.01.2009 - 2.  pic's upload / viewable for everybody - not only a problem with Global Moderator accounts - also other user have some problems!!


To do List:

3.  video  - embeded YOUTUBE Video only because of cost for server space
4.  Register only with valid email id - activation code ?? -
     We kindly ask all members to update your account data!!
     After an reasonable transitional period we are going to delete accounts with missing email adresses - Very Important Information!!!!


5.  member section - close all posts viewable only for logged in valid (email) members
6.  general section - e.g. only news and announcements are open for everybody ...
7.  Chat
8.  Events calendar     proposed by HS0ZIS
9.  Landing page         proposed by HS0ZIS  He also will support us with the design of it!
10. Photo gallery       proposes by HS0ZIS

11. etc.



We kindly ask all users to post your experiences, unusal appearences or improvements for this forum to boost it further as it is ...

can I propose a revised layout similar to the one mentioned in this post as I believe that it may add further value to the forum.

If Alexander needs any graphics for the landing page etc. I am more than willing to help in this respect.

Ok Dave I look forward to discuss potential improvements to the forum at the Pattaya meeting 

Meanwhile -as said in the other post- the forum sources and packages have been upgraded to 1.1.6 which fixes a number of bugs and security issues.
I am curious to hear if this solved the "visible/invisible" uploaded picture problem.

Hi Alexander,
    Swen was one of the users who reported not being able to see any attachments, perhaps he could test and report back here. Thanks for the update of the forum, see you in November.

I can confirm that attachments do not show up to Guest users, neither my mother (in the UK) or myself (using firefox and not logged in) can see the attachments.

Can I suggest that it is a permissions problem maybe ?? do you have to explicitly grant 'view attachments' rights to non-authenticated users ?? I'm not sure though why Swen can't see them but Paul and Nathan can !!!

I am using Windows XP and Firefox as Browser and don`t have any problems with the pictures. Same with Explorer or the new Google Chrome Browser.

Well first we thought it's only a problem of the Global Moderator accounts but Dave distroied our theory because his family members in UK also can not see the pic's .... anyway I think we will fix all problems with the software to fullfill all your needs!!! ;-)
