Hello Swen.
Thanks for the pictures, and the movie.
Im very sad about all the water, my xyl Somporn & I follows the Thai-TV very intense, and xyl´s uncle lost his city-house in Bangkok in water, aswell as a cousin also did in Ayuthaya..
If any of the rigs are able to be fixed, I belive its a miracel. Tried to save a vhf-radio in 1992, when in somalia, it had been in a river, and it did not work for more than a few weeks after cleaning, then finito...

I belive we´l have to get a collection to a new setup for the HS0AC station. Im not sure if I were the last working from the setup, in a contest, but I did the IOTA-contest in July, with a greate fun.

Best of luck to all thai´s and may the water not make anymore harm.

Was no-one aware of the possibility of flooding at HS0AC?  This really does sound like a very bad oversight  Cry

Marc you are correct - we went there (15.10.2011) and put everything above desk level - but unfortunately that was not enough - I guess it was flooded up to the roof = 2m +

29.10.2011
Still 18 km to go when we reached the point to stop 'coz of the high waters on the eastern ring road and the pickup would be submerged (1.2m water!) _ I do not wanted to risk that - well 6 or 10 wheel trucks still were going further ....

DD1WX - Lucienne

Special TNX
to
HS0ZJB - Chris for borrowing the dingy (small inflatable boot incl. scuba tank and regulator!)
Gulf Charter Thailand - for special discounted rental fee for the outboarder!

If somebody would like to have one of these plastic boxes - i bought 10 so these will go for @ 200 Baht! Please let me know!

Hello all

It is so sad to see the clubstation ruïend. At 19 octobre 2011 i had a meeting at HS0AC
but due to the floodings the appointment was canceld.. I was a little disappointed but
i understood that there were serious threarths about the floodings..!

But what i just have seen now on the pictures of the Link, what Robert HS0ZEX, mailed me
it makes me really sad Cry... ppfffff i hope that in the future the clubstation will be rebuild with all
equipment and furniture. And i hope that i can visit it and meet all the heroes overthere.

Hello again.
Sad to see how fast the air have influenze on the iron in the rigs, conseqently making all rigs nothing worth anymore.
I suggest that a person, or more, from the RAST in Thailand, make a story with pictures about the station, and mail them to all kinds of magazines, like the OZ-magazine,,, amateur-funk, CQDL, SSA, RSGB, QTC and so on, to tell the story, and make some PR for this Uniq station in Bangkok. Also this would be a PR for money collection, and hopefully a lot of money... Just suggest that RAST also have a PAYPAL.com account, that makes the donations much simple.

Good luck.

Have any plans or ideas been proposed so as to avoid a repeat of this situation?  I assume that the station will be rebuilt in the same location, which means that it will still be at risk of flooding in the future, if a similar situation occurs again.

Before we collect money to buy new equipment, we should have a rock-solid plan to avoid a repeat disaster of this type
